Holidays, depressed once more
Wallow in self-pity
Humankind is happier
Life for me a struggle
Ego taunts. “Poor me,” it cries.
Stifling heart and logic
Spirit softly whispers love
“Precious being, holy.”
Spirits linking infinite
Time and space forgotten
Ancestors, angelic aides
Blessings freely given
Look around for gifts abound
Sunlight, trees and flowers
Creatures made by God’s own hand
Each unique and custom
Lift your heart by giving thanks
Ego kicked to gutter
Share what’s yours with fellowman
Get, rejoice, contribute!
Human Condition
Struggle through the birth canal
The baby fights for life
Tiny lungs that gasp for air
A slap across the butt
Pattern set for human life
It’s cruel and cold sometimes
Fraught with tests and challenges
To teach life’s lessons best
Question not when things are good
Enjoy the respite time
Love will keep your spirit whole
Resilient, strong, inspired
Time to leave will come with death
For most another fight
Struggle through the veil to light
Cross over, job well done!
Another Chance
New Year,will it bring
Another chance to dance and sing?
Chapter ended, next one starting
Baby steps give hope eternal
Like a flower petals open
Showing more of God’s intention
Roses’ beauty pricked with thorns
Yin and yang, self sometimes torn
Fear not to reach beyond
Take risks and stretch, to grow
Sad truth is if stuck in muck
Your heart will never know.
Another Soul
Another one has left this place
Never to return
As parent, friend and confidant
Strong until the end

Know that she lives on
Her home is peace, love, harmony
Painful body shed
