Do You Know a Soul?
Do you know a soul
Who sucks the life from you,
Whose selfish temperament
Drains all the strength you have?
Do you know a soul
Compassionate and strong
And generous with all
An Angel sent from God?
Do you know a soul
Whose angry eyes are dark
Who only wants to harm
All creatures in his way?
Do you know a soul
Whose heart is good but lost
Can’t find his way from dark
To see the lighted path?
Do you know a soul
Who needs your precious words?
The truth is plain to see
Each spirit needs your prayer.
Do you know a soul
Who needs your helping hand?
Give freely if you can
We all come from the One!
More Than Not
Gratitude that opens doors
To greater gifts abound
Open heart appreciates
With humble hands gives praise
What you have is more than not
Enough for you to share
Break the bread to pass around
For more will come your way
Care for others, rich and poor
Their crosses they must bear
Kindness, love and gratitude
Are gifts we all can give
Happiness is from within
The joy of feeling blessed
Thankful for the birds that sing
When challenged by life’s test
What you have is more than not
With humble hands give praise
Happiness is from within
The joy of feeling blessed
Another Soul
Another one has left this place
Never to return
As parent, friend and confidant
Strong until the end
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
It takes belief and open heart
Know that she lives on
Her home is peace, love, harmony
Painful body shed
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Five senses do not see her soul
There behind the veil
Be still to view her messages
Love sent from afar
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Rejoice she’s found her way back home
Angels there to guide
Another soul has left this place
Resting in the Lord.
Roots and Wings
Roots run deep, secure and nourish
Building who I am each day
Compilation many moments
Steering compass ever north
Strength from roots, I dare to wander
Flutter wings to parts unknown
Reconnect whenever needed
Free to fly the thermals home
Star Upon The Tree
I set the star upon the tree
A special place on top
Reminder of past Christmases
I spent with my life’s love
Did I appreciate those days
While running to and fro
Or did I miss the best of times
Wrapped up in Christmas rush?
The baking, cooking, trim the tree,
Will all of it be done
Before the family arrives
For dinner Christmas eve
We’d stay up late to build the toys
Exhausted, went to bed
Excited boys would wake by five
To see what Santa left
I cannot travel back in time
To capture what was lost
My photos of past holidays
Forever warm my heart
That special star upon the tree
Burns brighter from above
His spirit lives forever more
In everlasting love
Listening
Listening to deepest yearnings
Voices whisper deep within
Listening to spirit guiding
Letting heart lead not my head
Discovering there’s more to see
Making choices new to me
Turning pages, writing chapters
Living my own history
No one else can walk my journey
Only I can take the path
Listening to spirit calling
Feeding soul with sight and sound
No one else can write my story
Not a one will take the blame
If I fail to have the courage
Paying heed to ego’s fears
Listening to deepest yearnings
Hear the calling from my heart
Listening to spirit guiding
I set sail for parts unknown
The Way Back
The Way Back from loss
A struggle each day
My heart torn in half
I wished he could stay
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Alas, not to be
His job was complete
Fulfilled, he must go
Ancestors to meet
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The Way Back from grief
I stumble and fall
In potholes of pain
Picked up to stand tall
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
New chapters to write
And places to see
More people to help
Adventures for me
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The teacher is life
To live it, to learn
Move forward he says
My love’s at each turn
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The Way Back takes time
To heal and move on
With wide open eyes
To see what’s beyond.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Excited and daunted
My soul will be fed
I know it’s the path
The Way Back I tread
